Ep. 14 – JJ Palmere and Fat Tony Discuss Experiences with a Plant-Based Diet

This week I sat down with JJ Palmere who is a professional BMX rider originally from right outside of Philadelphia, and currently living in San Diego. He’s sponsored by Fiend, Primo, The Trip, and Deadline, and he’s about as hardcore as you can get when it comes to street riders. In this episode we didn’t talk about BMX at all though…instead we had a long discussion about our personal experiences with being on a plant-based (or vegan) diet.

Both JJ and I have been plant-based athletes for a little more than two years, so what we did on this episode was answer some of the most common questions we get asked about veganism. We share similar diets, but we come from different places and backgrounds, so we have completely different perspectives on the questions and topics we discuss.

We started with the basics like, “Why did you decide to go vegan?”, and “Where do you get your protein?”, and we went on to answer questions such as, “How did you learn to read nutrition labels?”, “How did you learn to cook?”, and “What were the struggles you faced when transitioning to a vegan diet?” We also went to Instagram answered specific questions from our followers, so we tackled those as well.

Although we both give a lot of insight and advice on a plant-based or vegan diet, anyone looking to clean up their nutrition or get on a path to a healthier version of themselves can gain something from this episode. With that said, even if you don’t want to go vegan please listen anyway because I think you’re going to find something in here to take away.
